COMPETITION TEAM RULES
CONDUCT RULES
All competitive team members are expected to follow the same studio rules and policies that apply to every student. In addition, as representatives of SSDC, team dancers are held to a higher standard of conduct, commitment, and accountability both inside and outside of the classroom. Any behavior deemed disrespectful, inappropriate, or inconsistent with team expectations may result in dismissal from the team.
ETIQUETTE & BEHAVIOR
Students will receive one verbal warning for unruly behavior witnessed by a teacher, parent, or fellow student.
Unruly behavior includes (but is not limited to): disruptive conduct, being argumentative or disrespectful, refusal to participate, or the use of inappropriate language.
These expectations apply to all environments, including recreational classes, competition rehearsals, dance events, and competitions.
PROBLEMS & ISSUES
We expect all dancers representing SSDC to maintain a positive and uplifting attitude. If a problem arises, dancers and families are encouraged to bring it to our attention promptly so that we can work together toward a resolution.
DEDICATION
Membership on the Competition Team requires a high level of commitment—not only for the individual dancer but for the entire team. Every dancer is expected to:
Attend practices consistently.
Be prepared and knowledgeable about their dances.
Contribute as a productive team member.
Failure to meet these expectations may result in suspension from the team.
ATTENDANCE
Dancers may not miss more than 3 practices throughout the season.
If a member will be late or absent, they must notify their choreographer/teacher immediately.
Attendance at all mandatory practices, for the full duration, is required in order to participate in upcoming events.
Any material missed due to absence must be learned and caught up on before the next practice. Responsibility for catching up rests solely with the dancer.
BIRTH CERTIFICATE
A copy of each student’s birth certificate must be provided to Miss Sandy no later than October 31, 2025. The Competitions require all studios to have these for registration purposes.
CELL PHONES & ELECTRONICS
Cell phones, iPods, tablets, or other devices are not permitted during classes or team practices.
Phones must be turned off or silenced and placed in the designated storage area in the front office during class time.
In case of emergency, parents may contact the studio directly. Teachers and SSDC staff will immediately notify families if needed.
Failure to follow this rule will result in the dancer being asked to sit out of class and may lead to further disciplinary action.
REFUNDS
All deposits and payments—including tuition, uniforms, jackets, registration fees, and any other related expenses—are non-refundable under all circumstances, including suspension or dismissal from the team.
